For a publication design class, I founded my own Magazine called ACE. I wanted to create a publication that was like a hybrid between ID and Kinfolk – minimal but with an edge.
More often than not, I’m intrigued by the magazines on the shelf that sit like coffee table books. They remind me of journals, and thats the image I had in mind when designing the cover. I placed the cover lines under the cover story image as to not detract from the photo, and the barcode acts as a stylistic element.
For Lucky, I designed around the concept of the letter L, and the color blue, like his middle name.
I’ve made large sections of san serif type, wether it was a quote or a subhead to pull the viewer into the story.
I designed the letters in this FKA Twigs story, and created all of the shapes that litter the page. FKA was a dancer before a singer, and so the curves are to reflect movement and bending.
