Imagine my excitement when one of my branding teachers told the class we could redesign whichever album we wanted. I thought about a few different options, but my first choice was always going to be One Directions FOUR, (probably the greatest album of all time if I do say so myself).
FOUR is the album I play when I’m driving on a Sunday with the windows down. The songs are youthful and fun, but still hold a sense of maturity in the numbers that pull inspiration from anthemic pop rock hits of the 80’s. That is where the color scheme originated from, and the cover photo of the boys on the edge of the pool bridged the gap between the rest of the design.
I tied little threads through the pages, such as hand drawn elements like the X’s that would give the fans a sense of authenticity and personalization from the band.
Each of the five band members were given their own page, because every listener has a favorite.
Being a massive One Direction fan myself, this was one of my favorite projects during my program at school. If you haven’t already, I hope this project inspires you to give FOUR a listen.
